Dr Ruth Tighe (2017)

Tighe, Ruth
Ruth is currently a ST6 Anaesthetics/ICM trainee in Brighton, a real “slow learner” having graduated in 2004 and have managed to wangle about 6 years out of training. Since starting anaesthetics, I've worked 4 years in South Africa, Malawi (CURE International), Sierra Leone (Kings Sierra Leone Partnership) and Tanzania (Lifebox Fellowship). My real interest is how we can best use our expertise and training to work alongside local health care workers to improve their patient outcomes.

I believe this is best achieved through long term accountable partnerships via supported fellowships to join up this well-meaning but sometimes disjointed input. Therefore we're working together with RCoA International Department/AAGBI/WFSA and Lifebox to formalise these types of role-watch this space!!!

Outside work I love being outside (!) - swimming in lovely Brighton sea, running, kite surfing, etc.
