Timothy Girard
Dr. Girard is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine and an Investigator in the Center for Health Services Research at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN as well as in the VA Tennessee Valley Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). He received his MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and he completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia and a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Girard recently completed a multicenter, randomized clinical trial evaluating the effect of a paired sedation and ventilator weaning protocol on short- and long-term outcomes among medical ICU patients. His ongoing research interests include geriatric critical care, cognitive impairment after critical illness, severe sepsis, and sedation during mechanical ventilation
